Holiday Table Settings for our 18" Dolls

Dollhouse Holiday Tables

I love the holiday season and I have a special love for table settings for the dolls so I am sharing my DIY holiday tablescape.  This is a super simple craft and just sets the warmth when we sit down with our families, in this case, doll family.

For the table runner you will need the following supplies:

•      Felt square
•         Embellishments; foam, gems,
•         Glue
•         Ribbon or a miniature type garland 
•         scissors

Cut your felt in half and start laying out your embellishments until you get the placement that you most like.  I started with a foam wreath in the middle and added 2 candy canes and 2 candies on each side.  Glue to felt or peel off paper backing (if they are stick-ons) and place on felt.  For the trim on the edges, place your ribbon or garland and cut the same length of the edge.  Glue in place.  

Here are some other ideas using felt and embellishments.  The sky is the limit!

A centerpiece is a great focal point for your holiday table. 

For this floral candy cane centerpiece you will need:

•         A glass or plastic container
•         Fuzzy sticks (with the color of your choice)
•         A floral pick and styrofoam
•         Glue (I used hot glue)
•         A filler for your container (I used a plastic bead necklace from Wal-Mart and cut the beads)
•         A piece of ribbon tied in a bow.
•         Optional:  2 empty spools of thread, washi tape; embellishments; birthday candles

Place your floral pick in a piece of Styrofoam and glue to bottom of your container.  Add your filler.  Measure and bend your fuzzy sticks in the shape of a candy cane.  Cut all pieces the same length and place them in your container along the outer rim.  You can secure with a dab of glue so that they stand straight up.  Tie your ribbon around the rim.  

Optional:  I took 2 spools of thread and wrapped them with washi tape.  You could also glue on a piece of ribbon.  Added a circle of glitter foam and a silver glitter star, hole punched, then added the birthday candles.

Now step back and admire your new Christmas centerpiece work of art.

We Made A Diner for our American Girl Dolls !!!

From the moment the Our Generation Diner came out this year I fell in love with it..  So my challenge for myself was to recreate it trying to using most of the things I have on hand.  I will outline what I used with the following pics as I did not take pics while creating it.

Here is an overview.  Floor is red shelf liner with washi tape.  The stools are made with bottle caps and gift wrap rolls and the seats are just a piece of fabric filled with polyfill.  Images on side wall are printed on card stock.  The walls have scrap book paper.  The counters, all cardboard, are trimmed with duct tape and the countertop is covered in contact paper.

The jukebox is just a box with an image.  The food is mostly from Our Generation accessory sets and the condiments are made with polymer clay.  Menus are an image printed on card stock and cover with clear tape.  Did you notice our chips and goody rack on wall.  It is an empty razor blade container that held about 5 refills.  

Our back food counter is an empty packaging box that came with headphones so perfect for a food case.  The wall clock is a Christmas ornament with a "Coke" image.  Coffee pot is a kitchen timer.

Our Coke vending machine is a cardboard box covered with an image.  

Our waitresses are having a jolly old time!  This was a fun project and will deliver lots of play time!

New Room - Recording Studio

Since music is so much part of our lives, we couldn't go another day without making a studio for our AG Dollhouse.  Take a look at what we did.

Here we have our studio hours sign made with popsicle sticks and an instrument stand using a Goodwill find.

This is our sound booth made with a cardboard box and party favor beads.  We cut out a rectangle and added plastic to make a window.

On the right side of the room we have a seating area, a paper keyboard with straws as legs.  We also have a photo of studio equipment and the stool was made with a Clorox container wrapped with scrapbook paper and a hand sewn cushion for a seat.  

So now the girls have a place to practice.

How To Make a Loft bed for your American Girl doll house with Cardboard and a little imagination!

Well with cardboard that I got from Sam's Club I knew there was a project that I could make and since I was short on beds and was making a new dollroom I put my creative thinking cap on.

 Here is the box

 Then I cut it down to size

 I measured a piece of foam board that I would use for the legs.

 I scored the middle so that the legs would be like corner edges.

Here are the 4 legs cut and scored.

I slit each corner of the box and slid the legs through and secured them with glue.  I then added some more foam board and glued them in place also for extra support.

Here I am measuring the doll for head space.

I then cover the box and legs with contact paper.

The mattress has been added.

Here is the finished bed in place.  A nice addition to our doll room.
